Welcome to the Highland Eating Disorder support, emotional overeating and general counselling service. I hope you find what you are looking for within these pages. If you just wish to discuss something or someone in confidence before making any commitment, please email or phone and I will make contact with you to arrange a time to talk.
While Cognitive Behavioural Therapy underpins the treatments you or your loved one will receive, I also work Psychodynamically. Which means I can bring to the table, a deeper understanding of how people and mindsets change over time and in relation to others. In other words, how we grow a sense of self. It’s not done in isolation and is an imperfect process. Part of what I love about this work, is helping people to identify who they are/define themselves better. It’s a stepping-stone to better self-confidence, better choices and better habits.
I have been Counselling for approximately 20 years and in that time have worked in the NHS; short and long-term therapy interventions for a wide range of mental health issues. I opened a private practice in 2010 and this has evolved into mainly, the treatment of Eating Disorders.
I am registered member of the BACP (British Assoc. for Counselling and Psychotherapy), The National Centre for Eating Disorders and B-EAT. A specialist training in Eating Disorders was completed in 2008, and I have attended yearly updated trainings since. I have also trained alongside many well-respected leaders in this field. Please look at the NCFED page, as the founder Deanne Jade, writes at length about her knowledge of Eating Disorders and Obesity. All of this knowledge is passed down to us the members, through her thorough and up to date trainings.
As a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) I abide by their code of ethics. As part of my duty-of-care ethical approach to all my clients, I will work in collaboration with other medical professionals to fully support recovery.
